Sarah Longes - Mirador Design

In My Nature”

I am a 35yr old Multimedia Artist and Poet. I have had many choices in life but art is not one of them. It is not something that I "do", it is what I am. I studied Fine Art at Epsom Art College and went on to work at The Eagle Gallery in Epsom where I trained as a Fine Art Trade Guild picture framer. Over the years I have often had to change the way in which I work with art as a result of chronic illness but I try not to look at the limitations, rather take up the challenge and enjoy exploring new mediums. I am currently working predominantly with photography, which literally means “drawing with light”. Individual photographs have become my artists palette with which I have been able to create a series of exciting photomontages. These pieces are an evolution from oil paintings done over the years that accompany much of my poetry. Although they all have very personal meanings and stories behind them I do not want to enforce these on you. I hope that you will find something personal to yourselves within them. You, my audience are integral to my work. I formed Mirador Design a few years ago to encompass all the aspects of the work I do. Mirador is from the Spanish meaning viewpoint or viewer, amongst other things. Art is subjective so you, my viewer, may not always like what you see. As long as something in my work provokes an emotion within you then I have achieved my goal.
